Well, today were the presidential primaries, so I went out to vote. Everyone should vote. It is their duty as an American. I am so excited so far for how well Mike Huckabee has done. I did cast my vote for him this morning in the primaries. I really respect what he stands for and am excited to see him go all the way to the WhiteHouse. He is a generous man, christian man, pro-life, cares about all walks of life (not just the rich), and is a great speaker.

This election is so important to the future of our country. Plus, Chuck Norris supports Mike and who can't love Chuck Norris. Chuck will Karate Chop you if you don't vote for Mike.

Weddings and Ugly Faces???

Well, my brother got married on January 5 of this year. It was an awesome wedding; however, we had a few of our extended family members want to take some snapshots. I don't think I've ever seen any worse pictures in my life. At least everyone had a good time. I will post the "GOOD PICTURES" at a later date for all to see. Those will be much better.

Resignations and New Beginnings

Well, announced today all over the news is that University of Arkansas Chancellor John White will step down and go back to teaching in the Department of Engineering as a faculty member. This obviously came as a surprise to me; however, so many changes are going on with the Athletic Department and the U of A in general that this should not be a surprise at all.

Here are just some of many of Chancellor White's accomplishments:

Average ACT scores for incoming freshmen increase from 23.5 to 25.8.

Average grade point averages of incoming freshmen increase from 3.4 to 3.59.

Freshman year retention rises from 73.2 percent to 82.8 percent.

Enrollment increases from 14,740 to 18,648 - an increase of 26.5 percent.

Increasing diversity is made the university's top institutional goal, and total minority enrollment increases from 1,728 to 2,383.

National merit/achievement scholars nearly double, from 90 to 171.

Research expenditures increase from $73.7 million to $113.8 million.

Overall university endowment rises from $119 million to $877 million - an increase of approximately 637 percent.

The University of Arkansas receives the largest gift ever made to American public higher education ($300 million) from Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation.

The Campaign for the Twenty-First Century raises $1.046 billion in private gift support.

The Honors College is created and endowed at a level unmatched in higher education.

The 2010 Commission is launched as a group of more than 90 business, civic, education and government leaders tasked with making the case for the University of Arkansas' importance in the state's economic and cultural future.

The university is among first 100 signatories to American College and University Presidents

Climate Commitment, committing the University of Arkansas to being carbon neutral by 2009.

Several dozen buildings, stadiums, or structures are either renovated or added to campus, including state of the art sports and academic facilities.

Razorback and Lady Razorback athletic programs are merged into one administrative unit.

Now, how much influence he had in keeping Nutt at Arkansas, we will never know. All I know is that the University is a much better place now than it was decades ago. The Walton College of Business and College of Engineering lead the nation as two of the top institutions for learning. I hope this trend continues and eventually we start keeping jobs here in the great state of Arkansas. It can only get better from here, right!?!

My LA Trip

Trip to LA was fun. I did a lot of hard work, even though it doesn't look like it. We toured many retail stores including a 3 story Walmart, Whole Foods, Vons, Safeway, and Albertons. The new Tesco stores are now also opened in LA. I stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where Marilyn Monroe usually stayed when she was a huge star. There is rumor the hotel is haunted, but who knows. I didn't see or hear any ghosts anywhere; mostly I heard movie stars and producers filming movies in the lobby down below. That was a little annoying, but interesting at the same time.

Here are some pics of myself with Paris Hilton and Billy Bob Thornton. I ran into both of them while in Hollywood. Paris was going to a party at my hotel in the pool area and Billy Bob Thornton was signing his new albums to be released at a Virgin Records Megastore in Hollywood across from my hotel. Billy Bob loved it that I was from Arkansas and we talked for a good 5 or 10 minutes. He is still a good 0le boy.

Paris, was interesting as I referenced her in Arkansas to the show "The Simple Life". She said she made it to Fayetteville one time and her and Nichole Richie danced on table tops at a Bar on Dickson Street called On The Rocks. She remembered my name and said, "Keep Fayetteville Happnin Steve!!!" I told her I would!

This is by far one of the best Retail Trips I have taken so far with my job. I can believe all the stardom and I even spent the weekend with my Uncle and his Family in So Cal. We went to Beverly Hills and later on I went to the Santa Monica Beach for some relaxation. I will have to go back for another trip and another adventure.

A little history about my name-REMUS! It all goes way back to Roman Mythology...true story!!!

Romulus (c. 771 BC [1]—c. 717 BC) and Remus (c. 771 BC–c. 753 BC) are the traditional founders of Rome, appearing in Roman mythology as the twin[2] sons of the priestess Rhea Silvia, fathered by the god of war, Mars. According to the tradition recorded as history by Plutarch and Livy, Romulus served as the first King of Rome.
Romulus slew Remus over a dispute about which one of the two brothers had the support of the local gods to rule the new city and give it his name. Supposedly, Romulus had stood on one hill and Remus another, and a circle of birds flew over Remus, signifying that he should be king. After founding Rome, Romulus not only created the Roman Legions and the Roman Senate, but also added citizens to his new city by abducting the women of the neighboring Sabine tribes, which resulted in the mixture of the Sabines and Romans into one people. Romulus would become ancient Rome's greatest conqueror, adding large amounts of territory and people to the dominion of Rome.
